Getting The Itch

So, first and foremost, I am not dead.  Just something to get out of the way.

As I’m sure anybody reading this can imagine, I got burnt out and needed to take a break.  Still not completely back, but I’ve been feeling a major creative itch lately, and I think I’m going to start writing again.  No guarantees about what, and I’ll probably be a lot less hard core about things than before.

I’ve also decided, at least for now, that I’m not going to release through any sales outlets.  There’s a number of reasons, but putting yourself out there kinda sucks, and also having to constantly dread Amazon’s draconian rules schizophrenia definitely sucks.  Good news though is that means anything would be posted up here directly.  Also means I may post partial/incomplete stuff, which I suppose is a mixed blessing.

Regardless, here will be the best place to find things.  I’m also thinking about posting my old stuff as well, so keep eyes peeled for that.

One other thing, as some of you who were reading right before I bowed out for a bit know, I really enjoy 3D art. Some part of me wants to do comics, but I just don’t have the time.  For the time I spend making one comic release, I could do three or four novels.  But I really like having images to go with my stories, so I think I might just start doing that, rendering a few scenes per chapter, and just linking them on the story page.

We’ll see how things play out.  The short of it is that I’m thinking about writing again.

Site Modifications

Most of you should quickly notice the first modification made to the site, which is that I installed a plugin that requires age verification.  Given the stuff I deal with, it’s probably a good idea, and it’s mostly just to cover my ass.  It should only ask you to verify once a month.

I’ve also gone ahead and installed another plugin that flags my blog as containing non child-friendly content, which means that content filters should kick in for it.  I’m doing this, again, mostly to cover my ass.  If you’re a normal person browsing, you shouldn’t notice a thing.

Part of why I’m doing this is that I’m actually going to be posting some explicit content, so I figured I needed to cover myself a bit more.

For the time being, I’m going to hold off on trying to sell my ebooks etc. directly from my website.  It’s an idea I’ve toyed with, and there are a couple payment processors that will process payment for such content (I’ve spent a while checking) but there’s enough overhead that I’d rather not do it if I don’t have to.  I just want to make sure I have a backup in case Amazon decides to do another of their crazy random purges.

Now, on the comic front, I have two types of comics I’m working on presently. The first is depths, which is complete for 3 chapters, BUT I have to go back and re-render pretty much every scene to a higher resolution, because Kindle wants the page to be at least 1800×2880.  While this isn’t a huge problem, it takes time away from other things, so it’ll happen when it happens.

I plan to release depths on Kindle, if they’ll allow it.  I’m not 100%, but the sexual content should still be within their allowances.  If not, then I can fall back on Paypal or another processor.

However, I’ve recently been giving into temptation to make a comic that’s a little more hard core on the mind control and sexual content angles.  That one is outright going to be a no on Amazon, and most other payment processors it’ll be close enough to the thin line that I don’t really want to risk it.  As such, I’ve decided I’m not going to charge for it, for the time being.

The good news, however, is that I really want to post it somewhere for people to read, so I’m just going to post it here in it’s own section.  Unless I find out something amazing, it’ll probably be free.  I’ll try and make updates somewhat regular, but we’ll see.

Now, making this stuff isn’t free, so if you’d like to support it… buy a book.  It not only helps with my ratings as an author, it gets money to me, so yeah.

Anyway, expect to see something about my more explicit comic, Dr. Sexton’s Toys (do you see what I did there…) soon.  I’ll probably post the first chapter today, and then trickle out more a couple pages at a time (you know, to keep you schmucks coming).  Depths will be out when it’s out, and I’ll be trying on Amazon.  I want to release the first 3 chapters in a single go, to get to the hypnosis bits quicker, so it’ll probably take another week or two to re-tweak to higher resolution.

And of course, the writing will continue as time permits.  There’s one more Part to the first Arc of Mind’s Vault, but I’ll probably go into the second Arc almost immediately (since it’s currently popular).  Other things on the table are more Power Plays (although it honestly flopped, so I’m debating scrapping it, dunno if I screwed up or what), more Room Mates, or more Spell Bound.  Since Comics aren’t an option for Spell Bound, I’ll probably go with interior images writing for that one.

Branching Out

Hey look, a post that isn’t about new releases or how I’m taking a break!

So, last week, I did something that I was really unsure about, and released stories with covers made using 3D art.  I’ve dabbled in the field for a long while (like… seven or more years) and so i have some familiarity with the tools, but I’ve never really felt confident enough to share them with anybody.

However, I was finding it difficult to find good stock photos to use that fit my particular style, and also found that sometimes, when you want to put the same girls on the cover multiple times, you run out of photos.  Also, I was a little concerned about licensing, while the photo sites say you can use their stuff for ebook covers, there’s a lot of gray area around erotica.  All 3D assets come with pretty much 100% unrestricted usage of output renders (they really only care that you aren’t letting other people be able to make their own assets).

Anyway, I had reservations, but did it anyway.  At this point, I have no real reason to believe that it as a bad move.  Mind’s Vault has sold more copies in the first week than many of my titles (although it’s not the most resounding success.  It’s solid, is what I’m saying).  Power Plays is more meager, but I think a lot of people have gotten used to waiting for more to come out in a longer series before they purchase.  Either way, it’s sold enough that I don’t think it was bad.

To that, I’ll probably be using 3D covers from now on.  Also with that, I’ve decided to start a little experiment.  I mentioned in an earlier post that I was debating making a comic using 3D art, and I’m going to go through with it.  I’ve already brainstormed some ideas and kind of know how I want the story to progress, at least for my first test project.  I’ll probably share some of the initial stuff here, since why the hell not?

Now, one of the things that has me a little worried about such a project is that there’s actually a lot of this out in the wild already.  However, just like with eBooks, I seem to have found a style that was all my own, and I think people are enjoying what I have.  I consider my soft-core, story oriented format to be fairly successful, and I’m going to keep it that way.

A lot (and I mean a whole lot) of the visual stuff out there for mind control is of the “brainwashed the girl to be my fuck slave/mindlessly horny girl” type.  Often the main character has the control mcguffin, and there’s either a naked girl, a blowjob, or sex on almost every page (sometimes they make it 1 page before ripping their clothing off).  I’m not planning on doing this at all.  Just like with my stories, there should be build-up, and there should be some emotional attachment to the characters.  Yes, this means it won’t be for everybody, but I honestly think there are people out there who want stuff like this too.

The other thing is that a lot of the stuff that’s out there involves superheroes.  I fully understand why.  It’s difficult to have a controller who isn’t a villain, because they’re making a girl have sex with them etc.  Also, much of the available 3D assets just lends itself to this.  I’m not really interested in making superhero themed stuff, so I should stand out here too.  While I do plan to do some reality alteration / magic user stuff, I intend for it to be a bit more realistic style than superhero worlds.

Overall, I’m just experimenting.  We’ll see how it goes.  If it looks like it works and is popular, I’ll decide what to do from there.  I’ll probably release the first one on an inconsistent schedule directly here on my blog.  Please feel free to provide feedback once I have something to show.

That’s all for today, mostly just wanted to say something.  Also, still working on releases.  Second part of Power Play is written, just needs a revision pass, and the second part of Mind’s Vault is also at about 70%, just need to decide exactly how I want to present the story (it has POV swaps, but I think I’m going to do full releases in one POV.. On Call is getting a little much with POV shifts)

Trying to Dust Off

So, the good news is, things have finally calmed down enough that I’m trying to dust off and get back to writing.  The bad news is that Amazon decided to block the first two things I tried to release, which were the Omnibus editions of Hypnotic Condition and Crystal Rapture.

My theory is that it’s because I’m trying to change around my author name, and that they’re basically accusing me of copying myself (even though my old name is still listed as an Author).  In usual Amazon style, there is almost no information about why they blocked the title, leaving me to guess what happened, only this time the email notification of the block included language that my account could be terminated if I submit more material with the same problems.  Because of this, I’m hesitant to try again in case they’ve suddenly decided that something else is the problem.

I’ve got an email in now asking for at least more detail about the category of the issue, but we’ll see. If they don’t respond with more info, I’ll probably go ahead and try releasing under just my old author name and going from there (maybe just only release truly new stuff under Amy Sadal, but I want people who don’t read this to follow the switch).

Either way, that managed to zap my motivation to almost zero.  If things get resolved today or tomorrow, I’ll start working again, but that’s going to be at the top of the list.  Once things do get moving, I’m planning on writing the third part of On Call, finishing the first part of Soft Bots, and working on something else, but I’m not quite sure what yet (I have a couple new stories I want to write, but some part of me also wants to either keep going with Hypnotic Condition, or maybe further Spell Bound in a story line that came to me during the break).

Either way, I appreciate any patience, and feel free to raise your fist at Amazon for their obscure rejection schemes for me.

Work In Progress

Hey All,

So, another status update.  The good news is I’m working on something, and with luck it’ll be out soon… the bad (well, not really bad, I guess) is that it ballooned to be much bigger than I was expecting.  A story I thought would get done in 7000 words is looking like it’ll clock in closer to 20K.  While that means it’s got a lot more meat, it also means it’ll be delayed.

Also, it has a vaguely valentine’s theme, so I might have to ask people to overlook it being a day or two late.  Oh well.

Regardless, I’m hoping to finish the first draft tonight, and edit it tomorrow.  That means it might come out late tomorrow, or Saturday.  Either way, keep your eyes peeled.  I’m hoping my next release will be something a little shorter and sweeter, but lately they’ve been having a habit of getting away from me.

And before anybody wonders, yes, I’m still planning on releasing more of Dream Girls, and the last piece of Crystal Rapture (decided to call it at a 4 part story, before possibly heading into another arc).  As always, just need to find the time.  I long for when I can quit my day job and do this stuff full time.

Oh.  And also.  SNOW!  Good lord there’s a lot of it.

Reviews – A Request, and BTW, you can use a Pen Name Too

Hello All,

It’s looking like no releases this week.  I’m fighting something off and work has been a little extra crazy.  I’m hoping that I’ll be able to catch up on the weekend and rally strong next week.

I do, however, have a combination of request/public service announcement.  As anybody who has read the little blurb at the back of my books has seen, I’m very eager to get reviews from people who’ve read my stuff.  Specifically, it would be great if people could put said reviews up on Amazon.  As a lot of people know, many people base their decision to purchase on whether or not somebody else has been willing to purchase, and it would really help me out if people would do so.

However, I’ve asked people in the past, and they all say the same thing.  “Of course I would, but I don’t want people to see my name next to… that sort of thing.”  While I could pretend offense (hey, that’s my writing!!)  I understand completely.  After all, I clearly use a pen name (or did you think my parents hated me that much?) so why can’t you?

Oh yeah.  Turns out you can!  Didn’t you read the title of this post?

It turns out that you can set your Public name on Amazon, so that you can leave reviews that won’t have your name next to them.

Now, in the interest of full disclosure, there’s one small Caveat.  This will set your Public Name for your amazon account across the board.  if you just use amazon to purchase things and have them shipped to you, no big deal.  However, if you have a public wishlist, a person who looks at your reviews can see your wish list.

Also, there’s nothing stopping you from making a second Amazon account.  You’ll need to buy something with it (Might I make a suggestion?) but then you’ll have a completely separate account for your smut.

Obligatory Holiday Post

Hey All,

Hope everybody is well.  As usual, the end of year has been busy for me, but all things considered it could have been a lot worse.  Honestly, it’s been a fun year, and I’m really glad that the night job of writing has been as successful as it has been.  When I first started way back in May, I never expected to be at a point where I was hoping to pop out so much every month, and to continue to be selling things released months ago.  Here’s looking forward to 2014.

In writing news, you may have noticed I haven’t been particularly active in terms of releases.  Part of that has been that I’ve been busy, and part of it is that I’m making good on my idea to try and release some longer pieces that build over time.  I’ve been brainstorming Ideas, both for sex and control heavy stories, lighter more romantic stories, and even something completely non erotica.  Some of them have only made it to a chapter or two actually written, but most at least have the main thrust, so to speak, mapped out.

2014 should shape up to be a fun year for my writing, because I’m more comfortable taking on some more ambitious projects.  I still plan to continue a couple of serial lines (Namely On Call, 1 more post for Remote Control and then the second series will be done, and I already have LOTS of ideas for number three, including a return of lovely neighbor Beth, who has been a little absent.)  but I’m also hoping to release the longer stuff.  Hypno Hospitality served as a good testing ground for longer stuff, and it’s done quite well, I must admin.

So, to that end, I’m going to officially pre-announce the next longer title I’m hoping to release.  Based on my initial estimates, It’s looking like 45,000 to 55,000 words is likely.  I’d like to extend it a bit more (maybe by putting in a couple side scenes that I’ve been thinkiing of).  However, at that range, it’s still long enough that I’m allowed to call it a “book” and not even just a novella (but that’s all just terminology anyways).

The title will be “Room Mates – The Perfect Companions” and I see it as the first in a line of at least three of that length, if it ends up doing well.  The story features Sebastian, Samantha, and Tiffany.  Sebastian has lucked out in managing to get a living arrangement with two cute girls, but they’ve asked him to be the perfect gentleman, and he’s willingly obliged, at least as far as they can tell.  What they don’t know is that he’s slipped each of them a device that controls their thoughts while they sleep, sending them to him for nightly fun.  Still, he wants to enjoy something a little more, and is working to refine the devices.

As all the stuff released under Tri3Ax, it will have Mind Control, Brainwashing, plenty of sex, and features elements of Memory Modification, which I know can be a hot item for a few of my readers.  I’m hoping to have it out soon, but not putting any dates, in case delays happen.

Until next time.
